Eriba History

Designed by Eric Bachem in the late 1950's, he used his aeronautical engineering background to create a light weight, aerodynamic, yet strong caravan that could be towed by the VW Beetle and other cars of that generation.

Since then, thousands of Eriba Tourings have all been built to the same basic design philosophy; a light weight, high strength tubular steel load bearing framework covered on the outside with aluminium panels. Internal fittings and overhead lockers hang from the load bearing tubular steel frame.

The roof and pop-top are of glass reinforced polyester resin construction, while the inner walls are a light weight plastics coated board, added after either 25mm or 35mm of insulation foam is fitted into the wall gap.

What makes an Eriba so special?

This is one of the most often asked questions, obviously they look like no other caravan, they are easy to tow and manoeuvre, but maybe the tubular steel frame is the real difference. More expensive than the soft wood framing used by other caravan manufacturers; even after years of ownership, your Eriba will be as rigid and strong as new, and won't creak or leak.
