We have just purchased our first 2012 Eriba Familia 320, after many years of normal caravans, folding campers and more recently camping. The camping has been using various types of vehicle mounted roof tents and ground tents. However age catches up with you and you have to moderate your activities for travel and facilities/equipment. We are still using a Land Rover Defender and thought the Eriba would be the ideal match for our continued adventures, having a very similar pedigree and size.
Welcome PeterB, Eriba's are great. You won't regret it.

Hi Jimmy,
That is very interesting, how do I go about that, since there maybe a real need in the future. I do not know with any certainty what the current weight is, it maybe very close to the limit already.

Welcome. We pull our Triton 430 with a Discovery 4. We could not live without the rugged versatility of this type of car. folding sailing dinghy on the roof, large dog safely enclosed etc. Of course a Defender, like ours, is much more than the eriba needs, but, like us, you will soon be helping to pull campervans, caravans and even complete outfits off their pitch soon enough. Great combo. Enjoy.
Thank you, we are going to take our first real outing to Teversal cc&c camp site in early March if all goes well. Currently equipping the van with all the necessary facilities bearing in mind the weight limitations.

You will probably find that your have an ALKO 1050 kg axle which will mean for a small fee of about £80 to Hymer you will be able to get the van replated from 900kg to 1050kg MTPLM, which will give you an extra 150kg for your accessories...
When we had the 310 we did not have our own tow car so used to borrow the father-in-laws Freelander. It was almost bigger than the Familia and someone accused us of taking a portaloo on holiday with us (How very dare they!!!) the only problem hubby had towing with this combo is that he kept forgetting he had Ethel on the back and often had to check his speed when he realised he was doing 70!
